Rhetoric DefinitionExcellent communication is at the heart of all good training. Having received both my bachelor's and master's degrees in English, I am intimately familiar with the use of language — written and spoken — to accomplish a task. During my tenure at the University of Arizona, I taught 20 university-level Literature and Rhetoric classes to students of all ages, needs, and backgrounds. Powerful training results from effective communication. When you work with me, you are working with a master of the field.

Woodrow Wilson — the 28th President of the United States — once said that "If I am to speak ten minutes, I need a week for preparation; if fifteen minutes, three days; if half an hour, two days; if an hour, I am ready now." My training is succinct and effective because I focus on clear, direct writing and verbal communication that changes behavior to produce your desired outcome. And all of my training requires return demonstration: a fancy training term that means that the trainees have to show me that they can and will actually do what they've just been trained on.

How many times have you done a training, and then nothing changes? I understand the frustration that goes along with that experience, and that's why I use memorable training tools, demonstration-based learning, and effective communication skills to make sure that the training doesn't go out the door as soon as I do.

If training doesn't change employees' behavior, then you have wasted your time and money. The training that you and I can develop together will change behavior, and thus increase the profitability and professionalism of your business.
